Generated and computed entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Cold-chain certificates and temperature assessments support, but do not replace, your quality system, validated data loggers and regulatory obligations (GDP, HACCP, country rules). Disposition of temperature-sensitive product must follow your QA procedures and the product's stability data.
Most cold-chain failures are decided before the cargo loads. A reefer that wasn't pre-trip inspected, or was loaded warm without pre-cooling, or whose return-air sensor reads two degrees off, will fail in transit no matter how good the logger is — and by then the cargo is at sea. The Pre-Trip Inspection (PTI) is the checkpoint that catches these on the ground, and this generator produces the documented PTI that proves it happened.
About Reefer Pre-Trip Inspection Checklist Generator
Modern reefer units run an automatic PTI — a self-test of the refrigeration system, sensors and pull-down capability — but the document needs the human checks the unit can't run: structural and door-seal integrity (a damaged gasket loses temperature no compressor can fix), a clean T-floor (blocked airflow channels create hot spots), drain holes clear, the alarm log reviewed, setpoint and mode confirmed against the cargo's spec, and — critically — pre-cooling before stuffing with the product's temperature recorded at load. A frozen cargo loaded at -8 °C into a perfect -18 °C box is already compromised. The PTI record is also the first document a claim or audit asks for: it evidences that the equipment was fit and the cargo loaded correctly, shifting any later failure toward the transport leg rather than your packing. Generate it per unit, record the pre-cooling and product-at-load temperatures honestly, and keep it with the shipment file — it's the cheap inspection that prevents the expensive certificate you'd otherwise have to mark 'rejected'.

Frequently asked questions
What is a reefer PTI and what does it check?+
Pre-Trip Inspection — verifying a refrigerated unit is fit to carry temperature-controlled cargo before loading. Automatic PTI (built into modern units) self-tests refrigeration capacity, sensor accuracy and pull-down to setpoint. The full inspection adds human checks: door seals and structure, clean air-delivery T-floor, clear drains, reviewed alarm history, confirmed setpoint/mode/ventilation, and genset fuel for road legs. The document records both.
Why does pre-cooling matter so much?+
Because a reefer maintains temperature — it doesn't rapidly remove a large heat load. Stuffing warm product (or a warm container) means the unit fights for hours or days to pull down, during which the cargo sits above spec and the surface may partially thaw and refreeze. Pre-cooling the empty unit to setpoint AND loading product already at temperature is standard practice; recording the product temperature at load is what proves you did it when a claim arises.
What's the difference between frozen and chilled reefer settings?+
Mode and ventilation: frozen cargo runs in frozen mode with vents typically CLOSED (no fresh air needed; the goal is to hold deep cold), while chilled/fresh produce runs in chilled mode with vents OPEN to a set fresh-air exchange (respiring produce needs CO2/ethylene management, sometimes controlled-atmosphere). Loading frozen cargo with chilled-mode vent settings, or vice versa, is a classic setup error the PTI's ventilation check exists to catch.
Does a passed PTI guarantee the cargo arrives in spec?+
No — it removes the equipment-and-loading causes, which are the ones you control before departure. Handoff gaps, genset failures on the road, tarmac holds and door-open events in transit can still occur (track those with the custody log). But a documented PTI plus recorded pre-cooling means a downstream failure points at the transport leg, not your setup — which is exactly the evidentiary position you want when the destination thermograph raises a question.
