Market Cap & Fully-Diluted Valuation Calculator

Market cap, fully-diluted valuation (FDV) and the circulating ratio from price and supply figures.

โ€”
Market cap ($)
โ€”
Fully-diluted valuation ($)
โ€”
Circulating % (%)

Market cap values only the circulating supply; FDV values ALL tokens as if unlocked today. A low circulating ratio (e.g. 15%) means huge future supply unlocks that can dilute holders โ€” a major red flag the FDV/mcap gap reveals. Always check the vesting schedule, not just the price.

Formula

market cap = price ร— circulating supply ยท FDV = price ร— total supply ยท circulating % = circulating / total

About Market Cap & Fully-Diluted Valuation Calculator

Market cap and fully-diluted valuation (FDV) are the two numbers that tell you what a token is really 'worth' โ€” and the gap between them is one of crypto's most important red flags. Market cap values only the tokens circulating today (price ร— circulating supply); FDV values every token that will ever exist (price ร— total supply). This calculator computes both plus the circulating ratio, exposing how much future dilution is pending. A token with 15% circulating has 85% of its supply waiting to unlock โ€” pressure that price and market cap alone hide but FDV reveals.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between market cap and FDV?+

Market cap = price ร— circulating supply (tokens available now); FDV = price ร— total/max supply (every token that will ever exist). FDV assumes all locked, vesting and unminted tokens are released today at the current price. A large gap between them signals significant future supply entering circulation, which typically pressures the price downward as it unlocks.

Why is a low circulating ratio a warning sign?+

If only 15% of the total supply circulates, the other 85% will gradually unlock (team, investors, emissions) โ€” flooding the market with new supply. Unless demand grows to absorb it, this dilutes existing holders and suppresses price. A low float can also make the price easy to pump early, masking the dilution that follows. Always read the vesting schedule.

Is FDV a good valuation metric?+

It's useful for comparing the implied 'final' valuation across tokens, but it's often misleading taken alone โ€” it assumes full supply at today's price, ignoring that unlocks usually happen over years and that selling pressure tends to lower the price as supply grows. Use FDV alongside the unlock schedule and circulating market cap, not as a standalone valuation.

How do I find circulating vs total supply?+

Token explorers and aggregators (CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap) and the project's tokenomics docs list circulating, total and max supply, plus the vesting/emission schedule. The schedule matters most: it tells you WHEN the FDV-vs-market-cap gap closes. This calculator quantifies the gap; the project's vesting plan tells you the timeline of dilution.
