Fire Extinguisher Inspection Scheduler
A free fire extinguisher maintenance register: last service, interval, due date and overdue alerts — sorted by urgency, stored in your browser.
Your register stays in this browser (localStorage) — nothing is uploaded.
Add your first fire extinguisher to see the schedule. Sorted by urgency, the next due item is always on top.
Field notes from maintenance practice
Extinguisher compliance is a layered cake of intervals — monthly visual, annual maintenance, 6-year internal (stored pressure dry chem) and 12-year hydrostatic — and the register handles it with one line per extinguisher per layer, or practically: monthly lines per floor/zone and annual lines per unit. The monthly check takes 15 seconds per unit; what it really audits is whether the extinguisher is still where the map says, unblocked and charged.
Number every extinguisher and keep a location map — 'monthly checked' means each numbered unit verified, which is also how you discover the one that walked away. Run the register on whatever device lives where the work happens — a workshop tablet beats a spreadsheet on someone's laptop, because the person doing the job sees the list.

About Fire Extinguisher Inspection Scheduler
This scheduler keeps a living register of your fire extinguishers: add each one with its last service date and interval, and the board computes due dates, sorts by urgency and flags anything overdue or due within 14 days. One tap (✓) marks a service done and restarts that asset's clock. NFPA 10: monthly visual checks (gauge in green, pin/seal intact, accessible, no damage) and annual maintenance by a certified person, plus internal/hydrostatic tests on multi-year cycles by type.
How to use Fire Extinguisher Inspection Scheduler
- 1Add each asset with its last service date and interval — presets reflect the cited standard, and you can override per asset.
- 2The register sorts itself by urgency: overdue first, then due-soon (≤14 days), with a badge per asset.
- 3Tick ✓ when a service is done to reset that asset's clock to today — the whole register persists in your browser.

Frequently asked questions
How often should a fire extinguisher be serviced or inspected?+
NFPA 10: monthly visual checks (gauge in green, pin/seal intact, accessible, no damage) and annual maintenance by a certified person, plus internal/hydrostatic tests on multi-year cycles by type. Severe duty, harsh environments or regulatory requirements shorten it — and your OEM manual, insurer or local code always takes precedence over the generic default.
Which extinguishers does the multi-year internal/hydro testing apply to?+
By type per NFPA 10's tables: stored-pressure dry chemical takes a 6-year internal examination and 12-year hydrostatic test; CO₂ and other high-pressure cylinders hydro every 5 years; water/foam typically 5-year hydro. The annual service tag shows the last maintenance; the cylinder itself is stamped/labelled with hydro dates. When the schedule maths says a unit's test costs approach replacement cost (common for small dry-chems at the 12-year point), most services recommend replacing the unit.
Some of my units work much harder than others — same interval for all?+
No — set per-asset intervals: this register stores an interval with each fire extinguisher, so the hard-worked unit can run a shorter clock than the spare. Halving the interval for severe duty (dust, heat, continuous running) is the standard rule of thumb, and the due list re-sorts automatically.
What happens if I clear my browser data?+
The register is stored in localStorage on this device, so clearing site data erases it — note critical dates elsewhere or photograph the list periodically if it has become your master record. The upside of the design: no account, no server, nothing about your facility ever leaves the machine you're standing at.
