Welding fume was reclassified as a Group 1 human carcinogen, and its hazardous constituents have stringent, metal-specific exposure limits: hexavalent chromium (from stainless and chrome-coated steel) and manganese (a neurotoxin) have limits far below total particulate, so air can look 'okay' on a general monitor while a specific metal is over its limit. Proper protection means engineering controls first (local exhaust ventilation, fume extraction at the arc), then respiratory protection, with periodic personal air sampling and lab analysis to prove exposures. This dashboard helps verify that ventilation is keeping general fume down — treat it as one layer, not the whole programme.

Match the interval to the consequence and the rate of change: where an excursion spoils product or risks safety, log continuously (or as often as you can sample); where it is merely informative, daily or per-shift spot checks suffice. The in-range % and excursion count only mean something if your sampling is regular — sparse, irregular readings hide the excursions between them.
