This tracker stores data locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded. It complements (not replaces) carrier track-and-trace: enter milestones from your carrier's notifications to keep one consolidated, private view across all providers.

Every carrier has a tracking page; nobody has yours. When your imports ride three different lines, visibility means thirteen browser tabs and a spreadsheet that was accurate last Tuesday. This board consolidates every live container — any carrier, any lane — into one milestone view that you control, stored privately in your browser.

About Ocean Container Tracker

Each container advances through the nine milestones that matter commercially: booked, at origin, on water, transshipment, discharged, available, gated out, delivered, empty returned. The completion stats up top show your live pipeline at a glance, and the ETA column makes the morning scan a thirty-second job: anything discharged or available needs a pickup plan today, not a status meeting. The two transitions worth watching hardest are 'Discharged → Available' (free time is now burning — see our last-free-day tracker) and 'Gated out → Empty returned' (the detention clock). Containers parked at those stages are accruing charges silently; this board exists so no box sits at an expensive milestone unnoticed.

How to use Ocean Container Tracker

  1. 1Add each item with its details — it enters the board in the first status.
  2. 2Advance the status from the dropdown on each row as work progresses.
  3. 3Track the live counters (total, completed, open, completion %) above the table.
  4. 4Export or review per-status totals in your daily ops meeting.

Why use Ocean Container Tracker?

  • Status-driven workflow with live per-stage counters and totals
  • Advance items with one click as work progresses
  • Money totals per status when amounts are tracked
  • Local, private and free — no accounts, no setup

Frequently asked questions

Why track containers manually when carriers have tracking pages?+

Because you have one supply chain and they each show you a slice. A consolidated board answers the questions carrier pages can't: how many of MY boxes are on water right now, which arrive this week, which are sitting at 'Available' burning free time. Two minutes of milestone updates per arrival notice buys a single source of truth across all carriers.

Which milestone transitions cost money if missed?+

Two: 'Available' (the demurrage free-time clock is running — every unplanned day here risks top-tier charges) and 'Gated out' without 'Empty returned' (the detention/per-diem clock). The board makes both states visible as a count; operationally, those two columns ARE your charge-prevention dashboard.

Where does the tracking data come from?+

From the notifications you already receive — carrier arrival notices, terminal availability emails, your dray's gate confirmations. The board is the consolidation layer, not the data source: paste in the milestone as each notification lands and the consolidated picture stays current with about two minutes of effort per container per voyage.

Is my shipment data private here?+

Completely — records live in your browser's localStorage and never leave your device. That makes it safe for commercially sensitive routings and volumes, with the trade-off that it's per-device: use the CSV export to move the board between machines or share a snapshot with your team.
